Mall playplace
Due to some serious ungratefulness on Zane's part, Raegan and I ended up going to the playplace at the mall by ourselves this afternoon. The original plan was the Kansas museum here in town, but I don't do the whole entitled thing, so we might try again another day.
Raegan had so much fun at the playplace! It's pretty small, but so is she, so it's just right. When we go to the park I won't let her crawl around because of all the wood chips, but at the playplace it's all carpet, so she was in business. When we first got to the mall, there were a bunch of big kids (i.e. 7 or 8 years old) that were being crazy and really had no business being in the playplace in the first place. So Raegan and I walked around for awhile and I bought myself a shirt at Cato's. When we came back there was only three kids, and no one looked over five, so we stayed. There was a little girl whose Grandma said she was 13 months old that Raegan just loved! She's really getting interested in other kids. This little girl was crawling like a speed demon all over the playplace, and Raegan kept following her around. She could also crawl up the slide, which Raegan is no where near being able to accomplish yet, but she sure did give it a try. I did discover today that Raegan can crawl up steps, because she took the two steps leading out to the food court like a pro! :)
I had a really hard time getting any pictures of Raegan, because she was so busy either crawling around or looking at all of the other kids, but here's what I did manage:

Nice day
Today was a busy day! This morning Granny Ruth came over to watch Raegan so that Luke, Zane and I could go see Toy Story 3. I LOVED it! It made me want to watch the first two again. I will say though, that the $27 we paid for the three of us to watch it in 3D was 100% not worth it. The only reason we actually went to the 3D version was because they had a massive number of showings in 3D but only a late afternoon and early evening in non 3D, and it just worked better for Mom to watch her earlier in the day. Bit of a racket the movie theater has going on, I say!
The weather today was gorgeous! The high today was forcasted to be only 82, but I don't think it ever even got up to that. Raegan and I went to another park in town this afternoon, and then this evening after supper we went walking with my friend Katie and her son Greyson. We kind of got out of the habit for a while there because it was so hot and humid out, but we've managed to go twice this week. She lives close to the park, so we walk over there and take 3 laps around. We usually walk for 40-45 minutes, which means I don't have to go to the gym that day! :) Plus, it's nice to get out with a friend and talk about things.
Bah, this post is getting cutting short because Raegan is awake. We have good nights and not so good nights. I look forward to when she gets back to having consistent good nights of sleep. And good naps. :(

My independent girlie
So for months I tried giving Raegan Cheerios and puffs and these little rice rusk biscuits, and she would always gag and end up just playing with them. Nowadays, feeding herself is OMG! best thing EVAR!!!!!! She especially loves puffs and peas, although she'll try just about anything if she can feed herself. Sometimes when she starts getting bored with eating, I'll let her feed herself with the spoon and all of a sudden dinner is a magical amazing thing again.
She looks a little crazy in this picture! She's started doing this thing where she scrunches up her nose when you smile at her, like she's fake smiling at you. She also makes heavy breathing/snorting noises out her nose while she's fake smiling. It's hilarious!
Oakdale Park
In between massive rain showers, Raegan and I went to Oakdale Park today. It was a little humid, but it was only 82, which made it just right for being outside. I only took a couple pictures, because let's face it - I can't leave her sitting on playground equiptment while I take pictures. My girlie, she has no fear and who knows what she would fling herself off of in her quest to move. :)
Swinging is Raegan's favorite thing to do at the park, closely followed by riding the merry-go-round.
I was trying to get some pictures of her in the butterfly garden, but she would NOT look at the camera. I finally gave up because she took off crawling and I didn't want her getting all muddy.

And she's off!
Raegan started crawling Tuesday evening after we got back from vacation! I took this video Wednesday morning. It's crazy to look at it again, just four days later, because she's already waaaaaaaay faster now than she was in this video. She's also started pulling up to stand in her crib. Not cool when you're trying to get her to take a nap!

Vacation, Pt. Two
Here's the rest of our pictures from our vacation to Omaha. Tuesday we got up bright and early and went to the Henry Doorly Zoo. This is my third trip to this zoo, and I have to say that it is my favorite zoo (although Wichita's zoo is a very close second!) There were a couple new exhibits from the last time we went five years ago, but it's a big enough zoo that it doesn't ever feel repetitive to me. A LOT of the zoo is indoors, so even if it had been hot out it still would have been enjoyable. We actually ended up with perfect weather for the zoo - it was 67 when we got there according to the weather gauge on my SUV, and mid 80's when we left at 2:30.
I think the best part of the zoo for me was the Kingdoms of the Night exhibit located underneath the Desert Dome. The website says that it was completed in 2003, but we don't remember going through it last time we were there. The best part was the section that was like a bayou. You walk along this floating boardwalk, and in the water there are crocodiles, beavers, various fish, etc. When Zane and I first walked out onto the boardwalk, he says, "What's that noise?" because there was this hissing like noise. I said it was probably nothing, and when he goes over to the railing to look in the water, this enormous crocodile sticks its head up out of the water and snaps at him!!!! It was F-R-E-A-K-Y! The whole thing was very dim and very creepy, but I loved it! We also got to see a baby gorilla and a baby seal. Both very cute!

Overall, it was a really nice trip. The zoo was a little more expensive than most we go to (we paid $30.75 to get in) but for 5+ hours of entertainment I feel like it was well worth it. It's a very nice zoo, if you are ever in the Omaha area!
