Flower Girl

This weekend Raegan was a flower girl in my friend Christina's wedding. She did a fantastic job! :)

Weekend in Overland Park

Last weekend Raegan and I spent a three day weekend in Overland Park visiting family. We stayed with Luke's sister all weekend and spent Friday with her. Saturday and Sunday we spent the days with my brother and his family, and my parents who had also come down for the weekend. It was a fun crazy weekend!

Cheap/Free Fun!

The downside of the new job I took is that I won't be getting a paycheck for the month of August. At all. So that's over half of our income missing from August 25-September 25. We've been planning for it, as best as you can when you realize in May that its coming in 3 months. All the massive payments that were going to my grad school loans are instead being dumped into our savings. And we are trying to be as frugal as we can this summer. We've been doing a lot this summer, but 90% of it has been cheap or free.
We've gone to the splash pad at one of our local parks several times so far. It's free, and it's a nice way to beat the heat and burn off some energy before nap. Raegan isn't at all scared of getting wet this summer, and every time we go she makes new friends. Today she found another little girl who was also three and they chased each other and squealed and screamed the whole time. :)

We've also been spending a lot of time at the library. They have storytime every Wednesday morning with books and songs and a puppet show. An added bonus is that Raegan's daycare goes, so she gets to see all her friends too.

We've been doing some school work too, but in a fun way. This is just a paper towel roll and garage sale stickers. Raegan just matches the uppercase letters to the lowercase ones on the tube. Cheap, and she loves it because it involves stickers. :)

Burger King has 50 cent ice cream cones all summer, so yesterday we went to the one with the play place. For less than $2 we got a treat and Raegan got to play (in the air conditioning to boot!)
Summer can be a lot of fun without spending a lot of money!

Mispronunciations

Some super cute things Raegan has been saying lately:

Calling ticks "tick-tocks" (I think this might be my very favorite!)

"Polo" for pillow (still!)

"Girl" comes out more like "geeel"

School and cool both come out kind of over pronounced, like "skewwwl".

4th of July

We kept things fairly low key this 4th of July. Our family barbeque is actually tonight (the 5th). We just bought a few little things for Raegan to do. She loved it! The beauty of her is that we haven't been super materialistic and bought bought bought with her, so she's happy with even just a small amount. :)

I was pretty proud of our K-State smoke! :)

A new park!

We've been having some unusually cool weather this week. Tuesday morning it was only in the upper 60's when we went to the park. We just couldn't waste a cool summer morning!
One of our local parks added in a cool new feature called a Harmony Park. Raegan loooooved it. I wish my new classroom could take field trips next year, because I would love to take my kids. Such a great concept. :)
After we were done with the musical instruments we headed over to the regular play area. Raegan spent a lot of time climbing. It may even replace swinging as her favorite. My little mountain goat.

Rock City

We took Raegan to Rock City Sunday afternoon. The high that day was 82, and we felt like we better enjoy a reprieve from the ridiculous Kansas heat while we could.
As you can see, my child is part mountain goat. She loves climbing so much!
