Day One

Today was a super weird day. Raegan was running a fever last night, so she stayed home from preschool and child care today (my MIL stayed with her this morning, and Luke and I split up the afternoon). I also had to work today, but didn't have any children due to plumbing problems at my school. So it just didn't really feel like a Monday at all. Plus, I oveslept this morning. Like, my alarm didn't go off at all and I woke up at 7:00. We leave the house at 7:20. Yeah..... It was kind of a blessing from God that I didn't have kids today, because it really wasn't a big deal that I was late. Whew.

Raegan in all of her sickness is just the sweetest little thing right now. Last night she woke up 3 or 4 times during the night, and once when I went in, I said a little prayer for her. Every night before bed we pray for my friend's mom who has cancer, and when I said the little prayer for Raegan in the middle of the night, she said (in her little raspy voice), "Say a prayer for Christina's mom." My heart. I told Luke and he said, "She's amazing. She's going to change the world someday." :)

So here's my Day One outfit. One thing that fashion blogs have taught me is that you can turn a skirt into a dress by tucking a shirt into it. Never, ever knew that before this fall. I've never tried it until today, but I think it turned out really well. Probably not something I would have tried without the 30 for 30 challenge, so I guess I'm learning things already. I got a lot of compliments on my "dress" today, at which point I oh so proudly told everyone that it was indeed a skirt turned into a dress. I'm a geek. I finally have some fashion sense, and I'm just a little too proud of it. :)

Shirt: Kohl's
Skirt: Loft
Jean Jacket: Maurices
Boot Socks: Target - from the little girl section. They were $3 on clearance. I'm short, so it works! :)
Boots: Maurices
Necklace: Vanity
Earrings (that you can't see because I felt weird about taking a picture with my face in it - they're silver swirls): Target

Today was the perfect day to wear this outfit. It's not really a "preschool teacher friendly" outfit. Too much white. I don't wear white. Ever. I teach 3-5 year olds with food and boogers and God knows what else on their hands. White just doesn't work. But for a bonus!day with no children, it's perfect. Plus, dressy enough for conferences. So far, this 30 for 30 thing is easy. :)

One more picture to share. I thought it was verrrrrrry interesting that this little jewel came in the mail today. On Day One of 30 for 30 which includes no shopping. Thanks Gap. You're awesome like that. It's doubly awful because Gap is overflowing with striped shirts that I waaaaaant. Seriously. I would not buy all of those at once. That would just be silly.....

Sickie Girl

Raegan ended up being pretty sick this week. We stayed home from church last Sunday because she was really weepy and starting to get stuffy. Later that afternoon she started running a fever, so Luke stayed home with her on Monday. I had some fun things planned in my classroom that day and I really didn't want to miss work, and he seemed happy to stay home. :) She didn't have a fever all that day, so we went ahead with trick or treating that evening. She ended up waking up several times in the middle of the night, and when I took her temperature at one of those points it was a little above 100 degrees, just like it had been on Sunday.

So I called off at work and stayed home with Raegan. I ended up keeping her home Tuesday and Wednesday, because she still had a fever when we put her to bed Tuesday evening. Wednesday morning her fever broke and stayed gone all day, so Raegan and I headed back out into the real work again Thursday. She seems to be on the mend now, although she is a bit more weepy and demanding than usual. She's also still not eating very much, which is a classic sign that she isn't feeling her best.

Sweet little story: Raegan loves the two books that she has from the Llama Llama series. I brought home Llama Llama Misses Mama from work to read to her yesterday. As the book goes along, the llama gets more and more sad about missing his mama after she drops him off at preschool. At the page where he starts crying, Raegan started wailing and said, "Maaaaaaama!" and flung herself into my arms. She tends to be very emotional when she's not feeling good. Poor sweet baby. :)

Raegan on Tuesday watching a little Sesame Street. Poor sickie girl!

The return of the sick baby

Raegan is sick again. She didn't throw up any more Sunday, and did eat a few things (applesauce, part of a banana, some crackers) and was acting more like herself. So I took her to child care today and went to work. A few minutes after we got home this afternoon, she threw up all over the kitchen floor. And proceeded to throw up 7 times total tonight (between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m.) She was dry heaving by the last one. :( :( :( So needless to say, this Mommy will be staying home from work tomorrow. I know how awful I felt last Thursday, so I'm really feeling for her right now. I just hope the boys don't get it. Zane definitely can't get it until after 8:00 p.m. tomorrow, because he has a band concert that he HAS to be at. I probably shouldn't have even posted that. lol

Say a prayer for my sick baby please. I hope she can keep something down tomorrow.

Sick times have descended :(

The last 24 hours have been a little rough around our house. Raegan apparently caught the stomach virus that I had on Thursday. She started off with a cold on Friday - runny nose and watery eyes. Saturday morning she was all out of sorts, and her eyes looked awful because she kept rubbing snot from her nose into them. I left at lunchtime to go shopping in Manhattan. (Note to self: check weather forecast and graduation schedule for K-State before planning next trip to Manhattan. hahaha) When I got home, Raegan had already thrown up a couple times and she was just lethargic. She didn't eat last night, but we were able to get her to keep drinking water. She ended up throwing up one more time after I got home, and spent the whole evening snuggled up in my lap. Today she's playing a little bit, but she's already had two mini-naps, and she hasn't eaten anything more than some applesauce and a half a banana. Poor girlie. :(

You know Raegan is sick when she's willing to sit for extended periods of time.

Sick baby is sick.
