The downside of the new job I took is that I won't be getting a paycheck for the month of August. At all. So that's over half of our income missing from August 25-September 25. We've been planning for it, as best as you can when you realize in May that its coming in 3 months. All the massive payments that were going to my grad school loans are instead being dumped into our savings. And we are trying to be as frugal as we can this summer. We've been doing a lot this summer, but 90% of it has been cheap or free.
We've gone to the splash pad at one of our local parks several times so far. It's free, and it's a nice way to beat the heat and burn off some energy before nap. Raegan isn't at all scared of getting wet this summer, and every time we go she makes new friends. Today she found another little girl who was also three and they chased each other and squealed and screamed the whole time. :)
We've also been spending a lot of time at the library. They have storytime every Wednesday morning with books and songs and a puppet show. An added bonus is that Raegan's daycare goes, so she gets to see all her friends too.
We've been doing some school work too, but in a fun way. This is just a paper towel roll and garage sale stickers. Raegan just matches the uppercase letters to the lowercase ones on the tube. Cheap, and she loves it because it involves stickers. :)
